Good morning Burlington,
I hope everyone has been staying cool and beating the heat, and got to enjoy the long weekend with family and friends.
August marks the beginning of the last full month of summer, and with it are a number of special occasions to take note of. The City of Burlington has proclaimed August Emancipation Month; Black, African, and Caribbean Canadian Appreciation Month; Emancipation Day (August 1); and Burlington Heritage Week (August 1-7).
There a number of events happening in the community to celebrate Burlington Heritage Week, so make sure to check them out — link to the City’s webpage is in my Weekly Update.
There is also a Special Council meeting scheduled for this Thursday (Aug. 4) at 9:30 a.m. Please head to events.burlington.ca/meetings to view the agenda.
My full weekly update for Aug. 1-7, 2022 can be found here: Mayor’s Weekly Public Update Aug 1-7, 2022.
Have a great week!
~ Mayor Marianne Meed Ward
